The sobering truth about getting paid on Mylot.com

Indeed, as soon as the funds start trickling in, it is because someone has bought something or answered an ad directly connected to what you posted. That is the sobering fact here. Money does not come from nothing (well, with the exception of the Federal Reserve, perhaps). That means we are all billboards for something, whether we like it or not. At least there is some modest compensation. What does it feel like to be a Madison Avenue ad agency in miniature?

What's the problem? Mylot doesn't begin to make you rich. It begin as a comunity which make you earn something as an incentive to write in this forum instead in others forum. I don't understand your problem

It is not a problem I cite, merely an observation I'm making. You're point is well-taken: The primary reason for being involved with Mylot.com should be to establush a network and exchange ideas and information globally.

I have the same problem. I have zero referrals despite notifying everyone I know about this superb site. But I will endeavor to continue trying on this front. Eventually, I will prevail and a breakthrough is inevitable!

well yes of course the money we get from posting is generated from the adverts around the site. However I have been paid 3 times now so something works somewhere, i love it

it doesn't really matter i don't think. just think is people didn't pay for the adds and everything, myLot wouldn't even be around. just think of it as a bonus, for the little real effort we need to put in.

I'm getting world knowledge from around the globe, tips from people with my same interests, pictures that make me smile, book reviews and more --and I'm thrilled with the dime a day I'm getting on top of it, lol.

Jbrow has it down. Global interaction is what makes Mylot.com (and similar sites) both interesting and useful. The fact that Mylot.com's pay rate is superior to that of 90 percent of similar sites certainly makes participation even more beneficial.

Honestly it's great in my eyes that I'm being paid for my opinion.. Nothing more than my opinion. I don't have to research anything.. it's fun- I even learn things about other countries, cultures, people from different states, backgrounds, etc. So the money is an added benefit. I have no problem with others reading my opinions-- if I did- I wouldn't be here. I love mylot!

Well if this is what it feels like then I don't mind at all. It is not bad to make money for doing something that I enjoy and would be doing anyway. I do the same thing all over the net and am not treated as well as I am here.

LOL I have no problem with it at all. I love the fact that someone actually is willing to pay me for my opinion regardless of whether it is the same as theirs or not. And if I'm helping to contribute towards my earnings by something I've posted, then so be it. I love mylot :)

I like getting paid but sometimes I hate how things work on payouts. I dont get how I can make the same amount of comments, never one liners, and one day get $1.02 for 32 comments, and the next get $.52. How'd I loose $.50? I didnt even get a star raise. To be honest I made 26 comments last night and I got almost $1.00 today. yeah it confuses me... I know once I get a real job, I will not come on AS much. But still its fun to get paid. But its usually not more than $.01 or less a posts. Sad but true

i never thought of it like i was an active advert.I may cause revenue for some companys and sometimes it affects me directly for example refferals but if it is something i am rewarded for or something that takes little effort and i do it in order to show people thing i think they will enjoy i dont see myself as a slave to large companys more as someone people can trust to show them things that are enjoyable.

To clarify: You are really not the advert itself, rather a carrier of a certain criteria to which adverts are attracted.

I'm content, as long as I earn the little slice of capital I've signed up for.

You need to not limit yourself. That "little slice of capital" can become an entire pie if you dedicate yourself to that goal!

Well, what you say is true, but it is not really as bad as that you know! I enjoy connecting to people and love voicing my opinion about stuff and if somebody pays me for that, well, even once in a while, I would still be happy! I mean, I write blogs and articles on other sites just for the heck of it, so if I get paid, isn't it cool? I'm sure that quite a people here write or respond just for the sake of earning and the quality shows and their earnings also tend to be mediocre. I feel that we should just enjoy our time around here and anything that comes our way is the interest derived upon the enjoyment!

Come to think of it, isn't that alright? Someone's paying you for your opinions whether they like your thoughts or not, right? And you get the chance to read what others have to say about what you think. For me, writing for this site is a hobby. It's something I feel like doing when I'm all stressed out and need to relax my thoughts.. I open MyLot and read other people's ideas, then come up with my own ideas... and get paid for them!

I don't really mind or care from where the money come, i know it's a fair way and i don't think we should complain from where the money come since we are the ones getting paid just for posting in my opinion... So answering the question i don't really care hehe :).
