gabapentin

Is this medication given for lower back pain?

As far as I know, gabapentin can be used for quite a number of conditions. Among them include epilepsy, post herpetic neuralgia (pain from the "aftermath" of herpes virus infection), and as an anti-convulsant. Since gabapentin is useful for pain, giving it for lower back pain seems reasonable.

i think its not for that. as far i know, gabapentin is for epilepsy.

Yes..that is the generic for neurontin. It is not a pain killer but it works directly to relieve pain from the nerves affected.

yes, and of course what you get depends on the reason for the lower back pain. For example: my dh has sever nerve damage in his lower back...he's on very strong painkillers, but I have a broken bone in my lower back and am on a muscle relaxer and an anti-inflamitory.

yeah it is given if u have pain due to nerve impingement... if u want more info thn respond to this discussion so tht ill reply more
