I have my very close relative whose son is suffering from dry eye syndrome. Can you help me how can he be helped? Doctors recommended him eye-drops.

It was just about the most uncomfortable condition I've ever had. It hurt to blink. My eye doctor put little plugs into my tear ducts so the tears would not drain through them. Now they stay in the eyes longer and the discomfort is gone. The tears evaporate or occasionally overflow and make it look like I'm crying, but not often. If your relative's son is allergic to the preservatives in most eye drops, as am I, there are some brands that don't include them. They're much more expensive and have a shorter shelf life, but eye care is not a bargain-hunting area.

My mother suffers from dry eye syndrome. She has a prescription, it is like a gel or salve, she places a very small amount in her eyes before going to bed. The medication works overnight as she sleeps. She works with a lot of fabrics and the fibers irritate and dry out her eyes. The medication seems to help. She received a prescription from her optometrists and not her primary physician. New Tears seems to be a good eye drop for mild dry eyes, also. I hoped this helped.
