Why are people so crazy for cricket?

Though hockey is the national game yet it is not having enough recognisation.It is because cricket is he game which is having high popularity among the youngsters and all the multinational companies are going behing cricket and cricketers by sponsoring matches and pouring money like anything for the game.it is very sad that no other game has such viewership as cricket.it is in the hands of the present generation to change this scenario and give importance to all games.

i myself dont know hy people love cricket so much, esp when u can just sit and watch it and not help those playing the game. it is one big way of wasting time and energy and in some cases money...

this is the game in which there are immense wealth and popularity. after scoring 100 or more they became role model. they achieved lot of aid. they became celebrity among masses. on the other hand, in Hockey, Football and Tenis, Badminton, players are struggling for comfortable remuneration also. this is the reason cricket is so famous amoung masses.

in my opinion it's because of the colonial mentality. when india did something good at the game at the early era of cricket in the country it was seen as a victory of india in the game of their rulers and in a way over them. later it became obsession and as our performance in other games were not that good so we embraced what we had and thus as a result now we r so much obssessed with it(not me)! but i don't believe it either that hokey or other games should receive such fame just to be at par with cricket.but cricket oughtn't get so much attention as it is getting now; especially as we see on different news channels. the fame or money should be given on the basis of performance of players in a certain game and not only for its popularity.

Cricket is religion and Cricketers are God, People are crazy about Religiona nd God, since Cricket does not belong to any religion or God, people from all belief follow it Religiously. As fara as Hockey is concerned, they have to fight there own battle, Good Luck Hockey.
