We usually go out to eat for my birthday, where ever I want to go. And then we just hang out at home. For my birthday last year, I took the day off work and spent the day with my son. Then when my husband came home we all went out to eat. But my husband was on diaper duty as soon as he got home from work. It was nicer than any other gift I got, to just have a few hours without any dirty diapers! :)

I usually go out to dinner with family. My mom makes our favorite dinner on the Sunday nearest our birthday.

My hubby and I have birthdays that are only 3 days apart. So we have a combined celebration. We usually go out for dinner at our favorite restaurant. We always have areally nice evening. I don't have any family here and friends are non existant in this country so our celebrations are rather quiet. It would be great if my brother could come over as his birthday is also close to mine.

I just buy cake. I love cake and it's too expensive to cook other things. The kids and I are happy with cake.

Celebrating bdays for me is eating out in a nice restaurant. The food has to be special. I don't mind nice company either as long as the budget permits.

Since I've turned 18, I don't celebrate it anymore. Just like you said - in the small circle of friends / family, I don't even let my mom bake a cake anymore. If it's a weekend - I usually go out with a few friends for a drink or two and that's all.
