Why Do Gas Prices Go Up and Then Down So Often????

The prices finally start to come down to something reasonable and then they go right back up. Aren't the oil companies making enough money from us? Some of these executives make so much money it's crazy. How much do the oil companies actually have to make to finally give the consumers a break??? Will this ever be resolved??? What do you think???

A lot has to do with politics as well. The oil prices generally follow war and peace in the Middle East, and less with actual marketvalues. On the other hand i think this going down will not happen the next couple of years because the reserves are now beginning to come within 100 years of depletion

Ours had gone down to almost $2 even but now it's back up to $2.21 and who knows where it will go from there. I think they know that no matter what the prices are we'll pay it. We are dependent upon them for the fuel to use our cars. So many of us cannot get along without one or without a bus system. As long as they have that monoply they will continue to profit from it. Unless they start limiting how much the heads of companies can earn we won't get a break. If we make it so they are limited in bonuses and just given straight amounts perhaps they will feel the pinch and understand what we are going through. Also if they don't have to pay all those bonuses then they can lower the price. Works for me.

I know what you mean but I don't really understand why, it's something to do with oil companies and customs fees but basically it's a lot of greedy rich people trying to make even more money with no thought for low income families or pensioners.

The gas prices will continue to go up and down as long as we are depending on foreign oil for everything. I think the only way for the prices to remain constant is by using our own resources and not depending on other countries for oil or gas. I feel that they are ripping us off to begin with which is terrible. The gas companies here are very greedy and they know there is nothing we can do to control the prices or the need for oil and gas.
