AM/FM Signal Amplifier booster for car radio

I am thinking about purchasing a Crutchfield Metra 44-UA60 AM/FM Signal Amplifier. Have some trouble pulling in weak FM radio stations. I read a review on the product but it was blasted except one person who said it worked fine as long as he attached a static filter between the antenna and booster, he wasn't specific of what kind of static filter. So, I am looking for some kind of static filter that will get rid of the static while pulling in the FM signal but keep the signal strength. Static isn't coming from the car but just the FM interference from the distance. Bob
