Hello everyone. Does television influence us? If so, is it in a postive or negative way? I believe that it all comes down to what a person watches. How about you guys?

I do believe that television influences us. If we let children watch fight movies they usually like to act like the actors and start punching and kicking eachother. If we let children watch Veggie Tales hopefully they will act more Godly and show love.

Also it can be what a persons state of mind is, because if they are a psycho and they like to watch demented stuff then it will as far as they are concerned be influencing them in a positive way but to us it will be negative. I myself believe that TV influences many people in a positive way if it is creative and makes you think, instead of all the rancid reality shows!

Good point, I know what you mean. TV can make you think of something differently, and better, but at the same time it can influence you badly. Thanks for the respones, everyone.

Yes, television does impact us both positively and negatively. I think that it impacts kids to a larger extent than the adults. Most children tend to imitate the characters on tv and are influenced by violence. I came to know of a case from a friend that a kid after watching a superman like serial on the television jumped off from the terrace and was killed. I think these days there is more of a negative effect than the positive effects.

Oh wow, thats terrible. It definiately does impact children more and I think we need to be extremely careful what we (and they) watch.
