What do you think about a little boy playing with a doll? How about a cooking set? Or even playing with make-up? Would you let your son play with girls toys? If yes, would there be any limitations? (age or type of toy) If no, why?

My son likes to play with his baby sister's dolls. He also likes to pretend to cook food for me and put it in a make-belive oven. His little sister likes to play with his cars and trucks, all the stereo-typed boy toys. I don't really believe much on stereo-typing. I let them play with any toy and let their creative juices flow. My husband used to play with his sister's dolls when he was young. The dolls are usually the victims that his super hero dolls would save from the giant creature. haha

I think its ok for boys to play with girlie toys - toys are toys so if they want to play with them then fine. He prefers his cars, trucks etc anyway so i think the only time this will happen would be when he plays with his girl cousins and their toys.

A toy is a toy! That is the way I see it. I do not see anythign wrong with a boy playing with a doll... they have their own versions of dolls. I would start to worry at a later age like maybe 9 if they wanted to dress up in girl clothes.

I think that if I had a son and he started playing with some of my daughters toys that wuld be okay. I also think that make up is taking it to the extreme. I think that boys playing with cooking sets or maybe even some dolls would be okay. I can not say for sure how I would react to my son playing with girls toys because we only have a daughter for now.

I don't see anything wrong with it. I would have no problems buying these toys for my son if he wanted them. My sister and I used to put make up on my brother and dress him up as a girl and he grew up fine.

i say let your kid play with whatever they want. i have a daughter and she doesnt play with dolls ahe plays with tools and cars. she wont carry a doll but she will carry a wrench around all day. i dont see what it matters if its a boy playing with girl toys or a girl playing wit hboy toys. there kids they dont know any better let them do what ever makes them happy. now if there like 15 carring around a doll than that might be a problem.

I don't exactly go out and buy my son girl stuff, but he loves his girl cousin and imitates everything she does. So he has a necklace, he likes dolls, and he clomps around wearing my shoes lol. They also play house together, he usually plays the roll of "baby" while she swaddles him and his boy cousin makes the bed, it's so cute! I don't see any harm in it, his favorite toys are cars to push on the floor, that's macho right?
