I just finished reading THE LAST LAUGH, a collection of short stories by authors from India. The stories were far from light... most of them were indeed heavy. There was this story about a girl who really wanted to be a boy eversince she was a kid. When she had her first menstrual period, she committed suicide. Really heavy..... Then there's this story about 2 women on the same booth in a train. One of the women was a picture of sadness and bitnerness. The other woman was all bright and blooming. They ended up talking about their husbands... the dready woman told of her ordeal with her now ex-husband who drew the life out of her. On the other hand, the blooming woman told of her happy life with her new husband. At their destination, they found out that they were speaking about the SAME MAN. Such drama! I enjoyed the read, but I'd like to read something light now. Any suggestions?
