What sort of schooling are your kids enrolled in, or for those of you who don't have school aged kids yet, what do you plan to do with them as far as schooling?

My son isn't school age yet. When he's about to start, I'll research what schools are like, if the public ones suck, I'll homeschool him. I grew up with homeschooled children, and they aren't unsocial freaks like a lot of people will say, they still got to do afterschool activities. I've never thought about private school, the ones in my hometown or hardcore Catholic, not sure what the ones will be like in our city.

My son isn't in school at the moment because the preschools around our way are expensive, and he doesn't qualify for public preschool because my husbands earns too much, so we decided to keep him home until he turns 5 later in the year to attend public school. I have tried homeschooling him but i feel i still lack the necessary skills to teach my son more than just the basics.

Know this post is old, but thought I would revive it for ya. I homeschool my children. I live in Muncie Indiana and we only have one great school which is Burris and its a lottery pick to get into that school. Mun cie schools suck, I know because I attended them and started my kids out there also. But wised up real quick when my children stop enjoying going to school. They were being picked on and messed with way too much that they stop liking school and was getting depressed. I started teaching them when they were really small and had all my children reading at 1st grade levels by kindergarden. That is where I messed up, when sending them to public school, they were being picked on for being smart. It is sad, but true. My kids love being homeschooled and I love homeschooling them. It is fun and wonderful to watch them not understand something and then to get it and fully understand what ever it might be that they didn't.

I would love to home school my child I really would, I understand that he needs to be able to be social and make friends etc, but maybe he could join some clubs? I dont know. We also plan to have more children so I might feel differently down the line also lol.

if i am still living here when i have children they will definatly be put in public schools. The public school system (in the suburbs) is AMAZING here, much better than a private school here could provide or that i could provide homeschooling. However if i moved somewhere where the public schools stunk, I'd consider private school or maybe even homeschooling if I was a SAHM.

I like the fact that we live in a small town when it comes to schooling. You don't have to deal with gangs or violence. I also think that in a small town everyone knows everyone so you develope closer bonds between teachers and students. But then again in a small town you don't have a lot of diversity.
