CPR (cardio-pulmonary resuscitation): Were you trained to do this?

I was trained long time ago in our ROTC class, but I haven't seen an occasion yet where I have to use it. If ever I'm in a situation that demands CPR, I'm sure I will do it rather than let the person die. Do you think it's important for people to know how to do CPR?

I am not certified in CPR due to not having enough funds to take the course and due to multiple disabilities, including bouts of severe nerve pain, that keep me from taking the course, but I did teach it once to someone in Africa over the internet, and a few months later he used it on his wife, and saved her life. I am working very hard to overcome my disabilities with the hopes of becoming a nurse and a linguist, and to someday go all over the world to teach and promote CPR training around the world, especially in Third World countries where affordable CPR training is nonexistent for the average person. It breaks my heart that CPR training is so readily available in some countries, and so out of reach of the average person in so many others.
