If you cheat and someone tells on you how do you react?

A friend has been cheating on her bf for months. Her cousin found out and he is the bf's best friend. Her cheating got out, and the bf broke up with her. She suspected the cousin of telling on her and won't even talk to him. It wasn't him who told it was someone else. However, I think the friend is responsible for her own actions and if she gets found out then that's her problem as she should not have been cheating in the first place.
