Hotel Jacuzzi Tubs

Okay, I work at a hotel and this came up when a bunch of us were discussing strange experiences. One night at 4 AM I had this couple come in and ask me for a suite with a jacuzzi tub. We don't have suites like that here and I told them so. They then asked if we had a jacuzzi we could use... ewwww! I told them no, of course. But when I told my co-workers this story ti got us all thinking. When you check into a room that has a jacuzzi tub, how well do you really think it is cleaned fromt he person before you who was in it? I can pretty much guarantee with the time it takes to fill one of them, that there's no way it gets filled enough to clean out the water that might be trapped in the jets. Which means when you turn it on... God only knows what you are getting in the water. It might not be much, but ewwww! Needless to say, I will never use a jacuzzi tub in a room ever again unless I have the time to fill it and clean it good myself!

Me and my other half have had the pleasure of staying at a hotel where pretty much every time we got a hotel we got a jacuzzi tub in it. I had been in a room previously one time that had a jacuzzi and I really enjoyed it so I suggested we try to get one. This was the first time we had booked a room at this one particular hotel we've stayed in countless times since. We enjoyed our first time in this room but there was one problem. We had to clean out the jacuzzi because it didn't get a proper cleaning before we checked into the room. This kind of put a damper on the evening because who wants to clean out something that housekeeping should have done in the first place. I truly believe that the people who are supposed to clean all the rooms out should receive some training on how to properly clean out a jacuzzi tub. I think it should be run while someone cleans it because at least then you can get all that dirt out of the jets. That's where the problem lies anyways. When we checked in I'm sure that if we had filled that tub to the top and turned on the jets the water would have gone a grayish color due to all of the dirt we found. We had actually had the water go grey when we cleaned it out ourselves. It was disgusting. I had never seen water go that shade of grey ever. When we drained the tub we had to make sure we rinsed that thing out right after because there was almost a scummy film left in the tub. So, obviously I don't think hotels in general really care about how clean their suites and fixtures are. I think they're just happy to do a half decent cleaning job and not pay attention to details. I think that's where the problem is too, they don't pay attention to details. When we checked into a room the second time, there were marks and smudges all over the mirrors. We had to get housekeeping come in and clean those mirrors again. They didn't even use cleaning solution, they just rubbed it with a towel and thought that was enough. In my opinion that way of cleaning is lazy and it can also be or turn into a health concern if it isn't dealt with. If this is how they clean the tubs in that hotel I really question what else they just leave and don't clean at all in there at the same time. It's rather unnerving to think that the cleaning staff isn't even cleaning, just wasting time buffing and smearing the mirrors in that place. I just think the cleaning staff could be better trained than they currently are, that's all. Not saying that all of the cleaning staff or housekeeping at hotels are all like this.. Where they don't clean.. But this particular hotel that we've stayed at has been nothing but disappointing.. So we've learned our lessons just not to stay there anymore due to there lack of cleanliness but also.. Because how they weren't willing to listen to there customers needs. I can only imagine how difficult it must be to have to clean these hotel rooms & what not for housekeeping.. I just wish that the hotel we stayed at actually cleaned out the tub properly.. As I find that is so disgusting to not clean out a tub for a paying customer.. All the germs, & bacteria that could be in these jacuzzi's just from them not cleaning or disinfecting these jacuzzi's just the thought makes me feel rather disgusting in general! . . Thanks for allowing me to share! xx

I think it's really hard for hotels that have them to clean the tubs properly. They would have to fill all of the tubs to the level with the jets and turn it on, or have some sort of apparatus with high-pressure water (or a way to connect it to the spigot without it squirting water all over the room) and shoot it through all of the jets. I don't know if that would be 100% either. Housekeeping is budgeted a time per room. If they don't clean the room in that time they don't last. Honestly, I think it comes down to corporations trying to be cost-effective in this regard and hoping the public just doesn't think about it.

My family think me funny because I don't like to go away on holiday , If I do I clean the bathroom and I take my own sheets and pillow cases . I check the mattress too . I like my own bathroom and my own bed and I don't take the thought of sleeping where lots of others have been before me , I just think yuch !!! xx

yuck! Well since you are in the hotel business you know if they are cleaned out well or not. I think the majority of the public just think the whole room is cleaned well after each stay. I have stayed in rooms with the big jacuzzi tubs and have used them -- with all the bubble bath I put in I hope it cleans it out good enough! Maybe you can fill us in on other things like that! Like the bedspreads - how often are these changed?
