should age matter when applying for a job?

we often see age must be below 30 (or something like that) in the list of qualifications for a job. don't you find this a bit discriminating? i mean, why should employers take particular attention to age when hiring people? does this affect their efficiency?

We don't have an age limit here, one that is actually written down, as they would then have to deal with discrimination! But someimes the younger ones have more experience and vise versa, so it is a matter of the person and their ability than the age I would think.

i believe age does count for the simple reason that a human tends to become more sensible and mature for taking responsibilities and important decisions. again youngsters have the capability of doing jobs requiring high energy. people of different age groups have different caliber to perform.thus i feel that age does count..
