who is better...

While I do think that Mariah has the superior voice, I prefer Kelly Clarkson. I like Mariah's earlier stuff, but I hate when she just 'wails' her way through a lot of the r'n'b songs she's done now. It's like she doesn't even sing half the song and just sings notes. I much prefer Kelly Clarkson's type of music and would choose to go see her live over Mariah anyday.

I like both, but if i have to choose between mariah carey or kelly clarkson, i vote for mc, 'cause for me she's an ultimate diva, i love all her songs, she's a song bird, i like her style, i like her voice so much that no one can imitate it! she sing deeply, with full of emotions.

I think Mariah Carey is the best out of all three, but I am a sucker for those high notes. Mariah Carey has the record for the highest note, in the 1991 perfomance of emotions at the VMA's. I think Mariah has a voice that is just as good as Kelly, but her vocal range is what puts her on top. Not to mention she isn't annoying like Kelly Clarkson

they are in 2 different types of leads. mariah has a lot of fans and has been around for nearly 20 years. Kelly on the other hand has only been on the music scene for a couple of years. they have 2 different styles, and appeal to 2 different audiences. I like both but for different reasons. mariah carey has written some fantastic songs and has a great range of music. But she's a bit cookey. kelly on the other hand is a hip chick and is funky. has a powerful voice, but not the range that mariah has. still i enjoy both their styles.

For me, Mariah is the best. She's proven herself a hundred american music awards, golden globe awards, etc..she wouldn't be in the guinness book of world records if she's just a so so...

i like mariah carey and kelly clarkson.. But I think you can't compare them both, since they have different style. Mariah is better in vocal, but I like to listen to Kelly Clarkson's songs more than Mariah's. Anyway, they're both great singers. I love them both.

Mariah Carey all the way there's noone who can top her although Kelly is great too

I do listened to Mariah Carey, and I do not listened to Kelly Clarkson. I think they have their own character, but I really like to Mariah carey

I have to say I really like both, but they are just two totally different performers. For me Kelly Clarkson falls more under the rock/pop genre and Mariah Carey is more R&B, (the less commercialized stuff anyway) I personally like Mariah Carey more becuase I am a big fan of hip hop and R&B. Plus she has proven her staying power and after all these years she's still making hits. Granted she is a bit crazy (let's try to forget the rehab stint) she still has the most number one songs in the history of the charts , even surpassing Elvis and The Beatles. So like I said, I like both but I'm going to have to give this one to MC.

I guess it's not fair to compare kelly clarkson against mariah carey because the latter has been in the business for long and Kelly Clarkson is just starting to prove her talent. I like them both and these two women are so talented!
