I have never had any luck on artificials. I guess I am just a minnow gal.

Lures and location different everywhere. I live in Texas so the best bait for this time of year seems to be the minnow imitaters. During spring I break out the pumkinseed colored powerworm and then as spring comes on I use a carolina rig with a purple shad colored worm and bright orange minnow imitaters. An old fisherman buddy once told me that you can match the hatch just like a fly fisherman with bass lures. I try to use dark baits on overcast days and bright on sunny, and use shad imitaters to try and match the hatch. Sounds funny but if the shad are running they are running.

Hello Impervious I must say that a good plastic bait is my best producing, but i like to use others. Plus it always depends on the time of year and weather to. If the fishing is good i will use a rapala and i really like the suspending. You can really work them and keep them in the strik zone longer. The trick is to jerk them when you line is lose, they work much better. I found i really good pastic bait last summer and have wone to tournaments with it. I gave one to my friend next door and told him how to use it in a tournament he was going in. He came back home that weekend with second prize. $500. in his pocket. LOL. I have to find a new bait this year and study how it works, we have another tornament coming upin July and most of my friend are fishing it. They all know my tricks from before so i have to out do them all agian. Oops going on to long here.
