Was Ryan Seacrest a bit overboard with Simon last night?

I mean Ryan can really thank Simon for his success? Why does he needle him so?

People on here seem to really love Simon for some reason. I can't stand him. These 24 people were finalists out of thousands --yet he told a young girl that not only was her singing "forgettable", but so was her hair and her dress. She was a pretty girl and there was nothing wrong with how she looked. Did you happen to catch the look on her face as he said that....and the looks on her parents faces? I'm sure her parents spent a lifetime raising her to have self esteem and to be proud of who she is and her talents. Yet in front of all of America (and beyond) he said this to her. I don't think she will ever forget that moment. I think Ryan has probably had his share from Simon also, and agrees that Simon is just rude to some of the contestants. Okay, now I 'spose I'll hear from a million Simon-lovers, lol.

I know he is always cutting down someone. She was his pick last night.

Ryan and Simon arguing is getting annoying. Ryan does owe a lot to Simon for his success. I think sometimes the two of them go at it too much. We really do not need to see each week and then each night. It seems like the go at it every single show.

I was actually thinking about starting a discussion related to the tension between Ryan and Simon, but I forgot all about it to tell you the truth. Ryan and Simon really seem to be going at it this year, but I have to wonder if it's all a big show for the camera. I chuckled a bit last night when Simon asked Ryan if he was trying to date one of the girls on stage (or something to that affect).

After 5 seasons, you would think that Ryan already knows how to handle Simon. Simon is Simon and he only acted the way he always has for the past years. Ryan should've been more sensitive, in my opinion. Using the word "sweetheart" is within Simon's nature and i think it was just a small thing. It shouldn't have been enough reason to irk Ryan.

Personally I kind of think nobody knows how to handle Simon other than Randy...and he has basically just left him alone.

Still, we are all there to see people sing, not argue.

Simon was just being Simon. Ryan should just have not questioned his judgement. It's Simon's frankness and the judges chemistry that makes AI interesting to watch. I always want to hear what Simon has to say. I don't always agree with him, but it's very interesting to hear what he has to say. Often, though not always, he is right. Without Simon, for me, AI might be boring to watch.

Yes, but I got a sense that that were going overboard on boys night because the singing was so bad.

It's probably in the script, to spice up the idol. To have something to talk about. Anyhow, they both look great.
