sorry most of us doesn't like saying this word..because its admitting that you're wrong -- we all want to be right most of the time -- sorry humility..

So very true! Other times it is said but without meaning, some say sorry but do they really mean it?

"Hello" I work on reception for a project that works with young offenders. It is a real achievement if they say hello when they arrive for an appointment. Usually it's just "I'm here to see my worker" or " Where's the pen?". Wouldn't it be great if more people said hello instead of looking straight through you!

I can totally relate to that as I have been in your seat as well as on the other side. I am appalled at the rudeness of co-workers, clients, visitors who show no congeniality. Saying hello is what I thought we were all instructed to do when meeting new people. On the other hand, sometimes those same people are in a hurry and have their minds on one thing, whatever the task at hand may be. I am guilty of not addressing a person properly before, but it was unintentional. In my case, I know I was deep in thought and being friendly was not on my agenda at that moment. Sad but true

that would be a toss up between just a friendly hello, or saying thank you for something you may have done, it is suprising how many people just don't do that these days.

For me, i think it's some complimentary or encouraging word eg like "Great!", "Excellent!", "Awesome!", "Impressive!" & etc. But it should be used under the suitable condition, or it would be sarcastic if it would be used inappropriately.

Thank you! People don't say it often enough in my opinion. Hearing the words thank you, shows appreciation, for what you have been thanked for. Without the words thank you, the world will become a less helpful place. People will stop being helpful because they will think the help they have given has not been appreaciated and decide what is the point anyway!

I wish that people would say " I love you" more to the people that they really love and care about so they know how much each other loves each other. I think we do not say these words enough and sometimes we wonder if people love us or not because they rarely say it.

Just a polite smile and a greeting uch as "Good Morning" or "Good Evening" works wonders for people. My personal saying is "Life's Lovely! Love & Live Life!

I totally agree with lkbooi. Hearing someone say excellent after I have just made a good point, or achieved a goal, or otherwise "put myself out there," helps and motivates me to do a better job, set a better example, etc. In my administrative/clerical work experience, it is a word never said! During an unemployment stint, I substituted for a construction general laborer. And while I workd 8 of the hardest hours I have ever worked in my life, and was told what a great job I had done by co-workers, the boss man offered nothing. However, I used him as a reference of my character and it resulted in one of the best ones I have ever used. An interviewer of a prospective employer told me what wonderful things the boss had to say about me, my integrity and dedication. It almost made me cry. But I would have traded it in for a simple "excellent" from him to describe the job I did for him that day!

I agree with a couple of previous comments. People should say 'hello', 'sorry', and 'thank you' more often. I feel these three words are the start to good conversations, forgiveness, and a showing of appreciation. I feel happy when somebody, whether it's my friend or someone I don't know, said hello to me rather than ignoring me. Of course, I would totally understand if a stranger does not say hello to me, because after all, we don't know each other. But it sure is nice when you get a smile from a stranger. The cashiers at the supermarkets should also practise on their social skills. I mean, is it so hard to just say a 'thank you' after giving your customer the change? Some cashiers look so sour and their sourness can be so contagious too. When they looked sour at me, I'd look sour back at them. Then, I'd look sour for the rest of my shopping spree. Haha! Everyone is getting so unfriendly nowadays. yeah, it is also dangerous to be too friendly in case our friendliness is wrongly understood.
