Assume there was a technological breakthrough that would allow people to travel as easily and cheaply between continents as between nearby cities. Unfortunately, there would also be 100,000 death per year from this device. Would you try to prevent it's use?

Like the airplane there are always going to be new things that at first seem far too dangerous to make sense. But if the overall benefit is great enough there should be no stopping it. Instead what we should do is to call for finding and fixing the problems that are occuring. Your question points directly back to the fears of aviation in the begening. Many people thought that if we were meant to fly we would have wings. So they resisted this new device that could potentulay take us to hights we had never seen before.

I would definately try to prevent this from happening. As we can contact people over the internet so easily these days there is no need to travel to them like there used to be. Why would anyone want to risk lives just to selfishly travel like this?
