I just want to get an idea on how early should I send my daughter to school. As of now, she is just 8 months old.

My son is also 8 months old. As early as now I'm buying educational videos so that he'll grow up a bright kid. As for formal education, I think I would enroll him at the age of 4. I don't want to pressure him in studying too early because I don't want him to be traumatise. I want him to like school, so I'll wait for his readiness to go to school.

I think you should gauge that when she gets older. Her over all smarties, I mean if your home will not be enough to stimulate her mind, if she's curious about stuff, or if she learns fast, or if she's able to focus her attention on a task, things like that. You can gauge if she's ready for school I sent my daughter to school when she was 3 1/2 years old. At first I really didn't want to send her to school yet cause I wanted her to go when she's 5 but her cousins were already going but I wasn't sorry my daughter was excited to be going to school with her cousins and she learned a lot. During this time I talked to her (like an adult) and asked her if she wanted to join her cousins in going to school, she said yes, but I never gave her any pressures. I think you should look for a pre-school that will teach her but will not bore her or diminish her want for knowledge and schooling. Get her to a school that will cultivate a thirst for knowledge and a love for school and studies

A suggestion while your daughter is still young: Start SAVING for her education! And you won't be sorry! :) My kids started preschool at an average age of 2.5 years old. My eldest son went in at the youngest, at 2 years old since I felt he needed socializing :) He wasn't speaking much at 2 and I was a bit concerned. He developed soon after that. My youngest son however, is a talkative 2 year old. With the prices of education nowadays, Im holding him back til maybe he gets to 3 years old :)

In Michigan it is 6, but I heard the governor is trying to change it to 5. However, we homeschool our girls so we don't worry about it.

Between the ages of 5 and 6 she can go to kindergarden. At 3-4 you can have her attend preschool to prepare her for school and to adjust her to being with other kids ect. If you dont feel comfortable putting her in pre school which is only a few days a week, you can find some mom and me classes and play groups to take part in. Im hoping to find a group for my son this year he will be 3, and could really use the interaction.

That probably depends on the laws where you live. Where we live they have preschool available for children who are 3-4 years old, but it is optional. Children generally begin kindergarten around age 5. I hope this helps.

I put both of my children into a daycare/preschool when they were 3. Neither of them had had alot of interaction with other children. It was just me and them. I wanted them to learn how to deal with the whole situation and be comfortable with it before they HAD to start in kindergarden.

I think it is about 3-4 years old depending on where you live. However you could go to parent & toddler groups or go to a day nursery but they do charge.

are you not required to send her to school at a certain age where you live? here thay have to start the year they turn 6. i think they should start school as late as possible. let kids be kids. Once they start school most people will be in school or working every day for at lest 60 years.

around here a lot of kids go to 3rd year old preschool and 4 yr old preschool at local churches and stuff. Then most start kindergarten when theyre 5, or if they have an early birthday they might be 6 already. I started 2 months after I turned 5 and I think it was a great choice on my parents part, i was definatly ready intellectually (hah not that 5 year olds are "intellectuals" but i hope you understand what i mean) and socially. I also did great in school. But if your child is a little bitfurther behind developmentally then there's nothing wrong with waiting till she's 6 either.

oh and i know that kindergarten is not legally required. Kids are *required* to attend school starting in 1st grade, and i think the oldest they have to be 7 by the time they start.
