Could a "sixth sense" be hereditary?

When I was about seven or eight years-old, I was outside one night with my friends, and across the street I saw an old woman burying a dog under a very large pine tree. The image sort of came and went very quickly, and I asked my friends if they had seen it and they hadn't. That was my first ghostly experience, and I wondered if perhaps I had imagined the scene. Then, maybe a year or two later, my grandma started telling me and my sister stories of strange phenomenons she had experienced, including seeing ghosts. It made me feel less crazy, and made me think that maybe I did have an ability to see and sense things that others couldn't. By the time I was a teenager, I had experienced more strange occurrences, and my mom finally admitted that she always experienced strange happenings too. It started making me wonder if this really could be hereditary. What are your thoughts?
