Sew an alternative to giving Easter Candy!

I sew stuffed toy animals and dress them for gifts to hospitals and nursing homes during the holidays. The patterns are easier than people think and should try them out. My favorite easy stuffed toy pattern is Simplicity 7421, a stuffed bunny, made from ladies crew socks with outfit patterns to sew for it as well! NOTE: This pattern is now out of print, but some stores may still have a few and you can buy it online or at auction. Try making that or something similar for easter instead of the usual candy!

Oh Bee, this brings back so many lovely memories for me. My mother was an avid crocheter and knitter and she used to always make up little Easter and Christmas toys for the family. I have a whole collection of Easter bunnies and colourful eggs that she'd made for me and my sons. She also sewed beautifully and that's why I never needed to learn to sew - though I do crochet and knit and crossstitch - I usually do those things for babies nowadays.

This is a great idea. That way it will last so much longer than candy. SOme kids like stuffed animals better anyways. That way they have something to cuddle. Also I know older people love getting items especially since most of them can't have candy or very little. You are so sweet to do this.

bunny,basket - Happy Easter
That sounds wonderful. I remember one year I made baskets out of yarn and stiffened them with glue and gave out as gifts.
