which one?

i have downloaded, i think, everything zappa has ever done from bittorrent... only there is so much i cannot possibly listen to it! what do you think is the best studio album of his/the mothers of invention? the best live album? i had never realized his collection was so big -- some years he put out three or four albums, for a few years in a row! and after he passed, they still had enough material to release a few albums!

I like "Sheik Yerbouti" as a live album as it has my favorite band line up, and "Joe's Garage" has to be my favorite studio album though it's hard to pick really as they are all so good.

wow, sheik yerbouti is really good!! i am so floored by his live performances... he sounds so good.
it is hard to pick, isnt it? i go through that dilemma whenever i "discover" a band and i want to show it to my friends... 'cause i want to show them the best to win them over.

I couldn't believe Sheik Yerbouti was a live album until I heard the applause at the end it's so good.

Its all beautiful music. I personaly like Joe's Garage, and The Thing Fish albums best for his studio work. His entire You can't do that on stage anymore series is excelnt for live stuff.
But there isn't an album that sucks. It all depends on what kind of mood you're in. Shut up and play yer guitar is excelent solo work and has some extrememly good work in it. Shiek Yerbuti is hilarious as well as Have I Offended Someone?
Sorry, theres just so much music I've heard by Zappa and it's all good!
My suggestion is TRY to listen to all of it. One album at a time if you have to. I started listhening to Frank Zappa at age 12. I'm 24 and still havent heard every album. I do however know a guy who has EVERY single record and almost every CD ever made by Zappa. It's amazing!
