I am a stay at home mom of one and I'm looking for ways to significantly cut down our weekly expenses. If you have any good ideas on budgeting for food, gas, and utilities bills- that would be great..

My husband and I had done this for a few years. We had a poster board and wrote the expenses on it leaving room to put sticky notes under the certain expense. Well, we averaged our monthly bills and put them on the board. We also had a expense for each of us, our allowance. We kept track of all the money spent. Even the little thing like the 1 here and there. Only buy things that you really need. Cut back on eating out, getting that candy bar or coffee. It all adds up. For the electric just remember when you are not in a room turn out the lights or even if you are in the room and not using them.Get energy efficient light bulbs.

Have you checked to see if they have a surplus grocery store in your area? I found one not far from my town that has great deals. Most of the items are dented, discontinued. or overstock. I don't mind buying a box of cereal with a smashed corner if it is only $1.00 per box. I have also found many household items are much cheaper at a dollar store. Best wishes to you. It is hard raising a family on a limited income.
