Guatemala: Giant hole in the ground

I just read in the paper about a giant hole in the ground that all of a sudden opened. 100 meters deep. Three people dissapeared into it. they believe it was caused by a fault in the sewar-system. Have you heard about this? You should really check it out - the fotos are horrendous. have you ever heard about anything like this before?

I found these 2 links to the story. How scarey that must have been for those people. And look at the houses at the edge of the hole.

I actually hadn't heard about the giant hole opening up in Guatemala. I have heard about it happening in other places. Its kinda scary when you think about it. And pretty dangerous as well. I wonder if there is a way to make sure that something like this could be prevented or that we have a way to check to see where something like this could occur so that no one would lose their lives.

Sounds like it should be possible to tell that these things might happen in advance. At least if it happens due to faults with the sewar system or things like that. If it is at all possible I hope someone gets a system up and running soon so that not more people lose their lives.

Really? I am in Guatemala but I didn't know. Think its perhaps due to my ignorance on the language. I should check it out with my bf. His first language is Spanish but he's Korean. I love the way he speaks the language. So nice... :D So cute... :P
