Weighing the child regularly and plotting the weight on the health cards is an important tool to monitor the growth of the baby. Infants and young children should be weighed every month in the presence of their mothers and the growth status of the child should be explained to the mother. The growth chart kept in a plastic jacket could be entrusted to the mother. If the child is having malnutrition, the mothers should be advised to provide additional food to the child every day. Malnourished children should be followed up at home and mothers encouraged to come and ask questions regarding the feeding and care of the child.
