Do you wash your feet before going to bed?

My parent always get me to wash my feet before going to bed. It's a good practice, because we can avoid carrying dirt and dust on the bed sheet. I teach my son to keep such a good practice too. Do you have such a good practice? Parents, do you ensure your children wash their feet before putting them to bed?

Your idea sounds wonderful and I never thought about it. Well I usually wear sandals around the house so my feet don't get dirty or I will wear shoes. I never did wash my feet, but it seems like a good idea. Have a nice day. Pablo

Thank you very much saivenkaat, for appreciating my old post here. I am glad to have a friend here who is always taking care of his own personal hygiene. I have several friends who do not take initiative to take care of themselves in some aspects. I know one of them, who still needs his mom to push him always to take bath, cut finger nails and wash hair all the time. He is already of age 36, not a kid anymore. posting and have a nice day.

You know, I'm doing this randomly, not everyday but I'm washing my feet before going to bed sometimes may be cause of being tired and, I don't know why I'm doing that though my feel always be clean. I find it a default behaviour for me and I'm with you that it 's so healthy custom. Sure we have to teach chlidren to keep on that good custom.

I am glad that you do have such a good habit as your default practice. It is nice as well to instill such healthy habit into the daily practice of our young generations. Going to bed with clean feet could always keep our bed sheets cleaner and hygienic all the time.

It's a really good hygenic practice. I seldom wash with warm water, coz i am living in tropical country and the water is warm enough :) I think washing your feet will help sleep soundly in the night too. Thanks for your response.

Hi lkbooi, We were trained also to be clean before going to bed..Wash the feet, face and change our clothes which I am still doing until this time..My Mom will always scare us before that if we will not do it, cockroaches will love to bite our feet...LOL! Since, when My Sister and I will be tried, sometimes, we will not do it right away...LOL! Anyway, I know and meet a lot of friends in real life who have not observe the same practice, they can just jump on their bed without cleaning...So, It's nice really to have a great training at home!

Yeah che, a caring mom always tries very hard with whatever way, including telling scary stories, to train her kid to become a person who could take care of his own personal hygiene. I believe the story about the cockroaches really worked, for you and sister do acquire such good habit to wash the feet before going to bed. I also dislike seeing some of my friends who get into bed without washing their feet, when I happen to share hotel room with them during tour. I wonder how they could sleep with their dirty and smelly feet. I agree with you that this hygienic habit should be cultivated since young. posting and take care.

Yeah che, strict parents could bring up well discipline and good mannered kids. Kids are innocent when young and they must be taught before they know what is wrong or right. Other than parents, friends do influence us a lot. This could be seen in your case. You had changed your sister’s friend a bad habit of not washing feet. She certainly will feel grateful as you had taught her a good lesson that was not taught by her parents during her childhood. posting and take care.

Hello dear lkbooi. I was taught to wash my face, brush my teeth, wash my feet before going to bed as a small kid. Now as I am in the habit of taking a shower each day before going to bed to make me feel more comfortable sleeping in bed. It is a usual practice to my teen son. Thanks for your old discussion, dear lkbooi.

My parents taught me the same. It is really a good practice because after the whole that our feet was enclosed on our shoes, it has a certain smell due to wetting or the shoe's smell itself. Even now that I am away from home and living by myself, I don't forget to wash my feet. If I am too tired I wash it with warm water and soap. I wish to pass this good habit to my future children. Take care =)

Yeah leateagee, I’m glad to know that your parent did the same, to instill into your mind this good habit since your childhood. I also wish everyone could pass this good habit to our new generation to keep the feet clean before going to bed. Really, we would have healthy feet only if we always keep them clean. I was told that our tired feet would feel relaxed and comfy if soaked in warm water for 20 minutes or so. posting and good luck.

Hie lkbooi, I normally do after I enter the house when I have been outside almost whole day. Anyway since childhood, after I brushed my teeth and washed my face , I would tend to get my feet wet and that made me wash them altogether. Up till now, I still practice that every each time I enter the house and before I go to bed. But now I don't clumsily get my feet wet anymore. Cheers,

Yeah Desierra, I did like to do the same thing during my childhood, to get my feet wet after taking off my shoes. I did this everyday after school and I felt quite comfortable to wet my feet with cold water. My granny always advised me not to do that as she thought that one might from rheumatism when one got older. As a kid I did not believe this weird idea and I kept on washing them without being known by her. After I left school I didn’t do this for I didn’t have to wear socks and shoes anymore. Anyway I still persist to wash my feet before going to bed for hygienic purpose. posting and take care.

Yeah, though now we know what we have done actually doesn’t cause any harm to us, we still should have to thank our elderly, for the nag and scolding usually showed her concern for us, right? For the sake of health, I wonder whether we would treat our younger generation the same way as our grandparents had treated us Anyway it’s nice to pass on this hygienic habit to our young generation. posting and take care.

Yes, I still remember my grandma used to nag & scold me for getting my feet wet or washed them at night. And wouldn't allow me to bathe at night too, she thought I would catch a cold and fall sick as it was 'cooling' for the body system. Well! Been years I have been doing that and it is actually pretty harmless. This is a good practical habit to hand down for sure Cheers and have a good day.

Is important to wash your feet everyday. Imagine you have been walking around the entire day carrying the germs and dirt into your bed. Probably I am in Asian culture where we remove our shoes when we go back to our house or even visiting to friend's houses. We usually have the tales to scared the kids away if they don't wash their feet they will have nightmare, so probably for my family is a MUST to sleep with a clean feet.

Yeah currykai, you are right.in tropical countries, the hot weather always would make the feet with socks sweaty easily. This is easy to harbor dirt and germ on the feet with socks. So it’s nice to clean our feet while having shower or before going to bed. Yeah, there are many scary tales to frighten children who don’t wash their feet before going to bed. Of course this practice won’t be healthy for children psychologically and spiritually, for this won’t explain to them why they must wash their feet. Anyway this still could be the effective way to make them to wash their feet before going to bed. Thanks for your response and posting.

it is not that particularly while going on the bed to sleep i wash my feet but instead i had been taught by my parents that everytime when u come from outside anywhere the first work i do is change ur clothes n wash ur legs, face, hands n get freshed n then i use to carryon withmy breakfast n all. n i want this habbit to be maintained by my son also as it keeps u fresh , as u come from outside n pollution atmosphere its better to wash urself as all ur dirt gets washed away in order to be neat n clean.
