What would be the most defining movie of your generation and why? With me being a big horror and sci fi fan I can honestly say that Alien was the defining movie of my time. Although Aliens is my favourite all time movie, Alien was the movie that set a standard for all the rest. There has never been another movie like it, As soon as you mention Sci Fi and Horror in the same breath Alien is what we all think of. Groundbreaking special effects were used, and not just any run of themill actors. They were mostly top rated of their time. Except for Sigourney she was a nobody at the time but i dont think they could have given the lead to anyone else. It was and still is very unusual to have such quality acting in a movie of its kind and to this day if the movie came to cinemas now with no changes then I am sure it would still be a box office hit.

Mty mother loved that movie, she watched it so many times when I was a kid that I could speak all the words with the sound turned down. I have to admit though from a guy point of view it was a good chick flick.

Good movies, I dont think there was anything in them that defined a new movie experience though. But still the same they send that cerian sort of message that we have a natiral instinct to stay alive no matter the cost.

I can see how you could state it is a movie that defined "horror movies" in your generation...however how wuld Aliens define your generation in all actuality?..that makes no sense
