Do you live near a famous place or landmark?

The people on Mylot are such a diverse bunch of people from all over the world, I thought it'd be interesting to hear if you live near a famous place or landmark so I can get a 'fix' on your location. I'll start the ball rolling, I was born in Wimbledon, SW19 and grew up very close to Hampton Court Palace - I live very close by to both places still. Looking forward to your responses :-)

I live where the home of the Master's Tournament is as well as where the James Brown memorial is. Other than that, the biggest and most facinating thing around me is I live in a small hick town, where the police officer is the Chief, the water man, and the probate. The office is the jail house, the water palce, the court, and the police station. There is one store that is a place that sales alcohalic beverages, car wash, laundry mat, convience store, pizza palar and chinease restaraunt all in one. I kid you not.

LOL sounds like the kind of place where everyone knows each other and you'd never be lonely. I quite like the thought of being able to have a drink, do my laundry, wash my car, buy some groceries and have some fast food all in one stop! Thanks for joining in :-)

I live right next to Pike's Peak in Colorado. I see it every morning when I walk out the door to go somewhere.

Amazing - I've just looked at the Pikes Peak webcam - what a fabulous place, I love mountains but they're sadly lacking in London! We have lots of parks and a few hills but to get to very dramatic countryside and mountains I'd need to go to Wales, Cornwall, the Peak District or Scotland - and they're all pretty far away.

I've never been to Dundee - what attractions or landmarks are there? If you were to take me around your city what would you show me?

Yes, The Great Pyramids of Giza are just few kilometers from my home. It's the only remaining monument from the ancient 7 wonders of the world. It was built more than 4500 years ago.

I think the only famous place I live close to is London and everything that London has to offer, but as someone born in Wimbledon, you're probably even closer than me. I suppose I live quite close to Hatfield Forest which is a protected nature reserve, and Cambridge which is one of our most historical cities. Oh, and not too far from Chelmsford, which was at one point, the capital of the UK. But I can't pinpoint anything else exciting LOL!
