I always forget something if I put it in a safe place.

I have this quirky trait (idiosyncrasy) were if I put away something saying to myself that I'm putting it in a safe place but I don't say aloud what that safe place is, then the moment I've turned away from the 'safe place' I TOTALLY forget were I put it no amount of thinking will remind me of were I put it. I either have to accidentally come across it or scourer all the know safe places in the room where I put which is the only thing I can remember. As you might imagine it makes people reluctant to give me anything for safe keeping.LOL I can only laugh when this happens but what about you do any of you have any idiosyncrasies.

My "idiosyncrasy" is something similar to yours. I put something in a place "where I'll be able to find it easily", and then when I go back to get it, all I can remember about where I put it is that I had put it in a place "where I would be able to find it easily". I have to tear my room apart before I find it, and when I do, I smack myself on the head because I remember where I had put it when I finally find it. Get it? (I know, that was a little confusing, even for me! lol).

Oh gosh i do this all the time. I searched for over 2 months for a battery charger for my camera because i had put it in a safe place. I did that with money often too. ive lost a couple hundred dollers to safe places. Its a terrible habit. One thing that really helps, is keeping the same safe place for as many things as you can. I always put money in the same safe place. I try to put everything else together, that way there is less chance of me loosing it. Or ill write myself a note in wordpad and leave it on my computers desktop saying where ive left some things.

in my case, when i try to fix my things, organize my files and all that, and when the time comes to look for something, i couldn't find it. sometimes, i think it's better if i leave things as they are because i can easily locate them.

I can totally agree with you there. It seems the older you get the more you forget where that safe place is at. I can remember putting keys away for my son and to this day never found them. Better off to put somewhere where you will find it easy enough.
