I cant help it. I dont know what it is, but if I see a car accident I cant help but stare the whole way by it. What is it that makes us do this, Morbid Curiosity? or is it concern that we know the victims? I know sometimes I look to see if I know the vehicle, but even if I dont recognize any of the vehicles, I cant help but keep looking. This is a little frightening to think about what I am hoping to see really. Do you stare at car wrecks too?

Yes i do. I think its a combination of a few reasons why we all do it. 1. Do we know the people involved ? 2. Are they hurt. 3. Are they hurt badly. 4. What happened and how did the car hold up. 5. Sorrow and fear for the people involved. I have been in a serious car accident and i reminds me of all of the feeling that i went through, and i wonder how they will cope with what has happened and what is about to happen to them. I suppose to a degree there is a certain amout of morbid curiosity in there as well. I think that for the most part it is human nature to check on others.

I think we all do... where I come from we call that a gapers delay... everyone has slowed down to see what was going on which then causes traffic. U are normal :)

Usually when I come to a car accident I look quickly to make sure that someone I know wasn't involved, than put my eyes back on the road, or I will pull off somewhere than ask if any extra help is needed if the accident is serious enough. In my opinion, I think it's human nature to be naturally curious about everything we come across. Though, I don't understand why it seems some people can't take their eyes off car accidents. It could be that for some it could be some sort of reality shock and though some are not aware of it they could have for a split second thought that could have been them in that accident.

i do, i can't help it. i look to see if i know someone or if they are ok. i am not sure why really it would drive me nuts to go by and not look. i think every one does but if you think about it if you drove by and did not look like you could care less wouldn't that be mean?
