What impact has your salary impact your work performance?

Working for many years for corporations, I realised that our salary is the greatest motivating factor. Many colleagues, past and present, performed because of how much they are paid. I try not to be influenced by this issue. It is not easy but I think we must have integrity in serving our services. What do you feel about this? If you do work for someone, how is your opinion on this issue. If you are a business owner with employees under you, what sort of problems you faced? What suggestions do you give to help others to overcome this issue?

This is an interesting question and I think has a lot to do with our personal value system. While most of us take up a job primarily to earn a living, at least in our early years, real satisfaction from a job/career cannot be sustained from a salary alone. If a high salary happens to be coupled with one's interest, that's one thing, but taking up a job merely for the pay will result in a level of dissatisfaction in the long run and that in turn will affect long term growth and performance. In my experience, I have certainly seen salary as a motivating factor, but "happy" employees also look for things like job security, challenges and growth prospects, and perks (including stick options) etc.

I appreciate your response very much. Those of us who have been working for many years would have experienced many of this issue matters. Let us be good motivators to others who are younger. The result is that we would have played our role as responsible human beings in society.

i do work for smoeone, and salary do impact my performance and how i do at work, some time if we know other who work in the same level and get more salary than we have and he is have less knowledge and got higher salary than we have. people than become less motivated because of the different salary they have. so this is sometime become a big issue in the company. to overcome this issue, people should have some income out side their job.
