Can A Forum Make You Money ???

Morning all you peeps out there in Cyberland and I hope you are all well...I am running a website that is basically a Forum and to be honest I am finding it hard to increase my members... Well I do get new members but they just join but never post anything so its a waste of time. I also find if I don't actually start a new thread the site would just die a death. In over 6 months I have also only made a few pounds and lost money setting it up... I enjoy it because it is fun running yer own forum but at the end of the day what's the point if it costs money. Is a FORUM a bad idea, is there better ways to enhance a forum. Are there better ways to get traffic to it ??? Really would appreciate answers....Thanks you lovely peeps !!!
