Photos on myLot

I have a question for you about g\how to add an image to a discussion. if i hit "add an image" and upload a photo, it shows up in quite a big size on my screen. Will it appear as small as the avatar when i press "start discussion"? I figuered i'd better ask before making a complete fool of myself here....
