I'm one of those people that has conflicting views on this issue because the media has a lot to do with peoples opinions and decisions. Sometimes I feel like he's not even in charge and is just repeating things that was told to him. How do you feel? Is he a good president? Please support your answer.

I don't feel he's doing a good job. I don't think he honestly has the best interest of the country in mind, and that what's going on in the middle east has just as much to do with natural resources as terrorism. He's responsible for turning the country's biggest surplus into the biggest deficit. (When he took office, the US had the strongest economy in US history, and now the economy is in the toilet). Over 2 million Americans lost their jobs the year after he took office, and he then cut unemployment benefits. He cut healthcare benefits for war veterans. He's the first US President to have the UN remove the United States from the human rights commission and the elections monitoring board. He's the first US President to defy the Geneva convention by not allowing inspectors access to prisoners of war. He failed to find Osama bin Laden and instead diverted focus to Saddam Hussein, which unfortunately worked. His government is secretive and has made more amendments to the constitution affecting people's rights and liberties than any other president. He's illegally wiretapped Americans. He's given border guards the right to detain people indefinitely without trial. People have been jailed for years without access to a lawyer, the ability to tell their families where they are, or even the right to be told why they are being held. After 9/11 the United States had the world's sympathy, and in the last several years has become the most resented country on earth due to foreign policies. His response to Hurricane Katrina and its aftermath was abysmal. I could keep going, but you get the general idea. I feel he's dishonest at best and an utter failure as a president. It's going to take a lot of work for the next president to get the US back on its feet.

I would say he is a good President. This isn't to say that I agree with him or even that I support him. It is a simple statement that he is a good President. So much about the Presidency is overlooked. The 24/7 job for 8 years is something above what the average citizen can even imagine. Having to face the media constantly with every move scrutinized, can cause a man to completely lose it, but he has withstood all the pressure well. He also hasn't lost his values, he sticks by his decisions, and is a leader of men. He gained the vote of more Americans than any other president in history.

Yes, I think Bush is a good president. I think he has done the best possible job that he could do given the circumstances that he was faced with. So many people are set against him because of Iraq. What was he to do given the circumstances and information that he had to work with. He has done what he thought is right for our country, and that is exactly what he was elected to do. No one has any right trying to second guess his policies and decisions, and those that do most likely could not have come up with a better plan. My question to those who doubt Bush is this, what do they think would have happened if 9-11 would have happened a year earlier? Congress approved his actions before we even went into Iraq.
