I an interested in finding people like me who needs to loose those extra pounds and maybe feel better about myself and life in general. I have diabetis and heart problems and have gained about 50 pounds. I am now attempting to loose it. If you are in the same shape maybe we could help each other to get back on track.

I rated this a +. Yes I'm in the same boat as you are. I have had a heart attak in 2001. Thank goodness I do not have diabetis. I quit snoking in about 1996 and I have no problem gaining but loosing is another story. One of my big problems is the lack of excercise and I'm not able to walk very far at one time. I have serious back problems and I need knee relocements real bad. As soon as I could possibly afford one I'd like to get a treadmill, then do a little at a time several times a day when possible. I like the idea of your post because encouragement from others is an asset. Take Care...

The best way that I've found to lose wieght and maintain it somewhat is to walk everyday or every other day, drink about 64 oz of water each day, and to avoid eating within 3 hours of bedtime. I also try to eat frequently througout the day rather than eat large meals. This will keep your stomach happy and your desire to snack doable. Eat your meals a handful at a time... literally, just eat a handful sized portion, even less at a time, wait an hour and do it again. It's great for your metabolism. Obviously you'll want to eat healthy, but don't ever eat less than 1200 calories a day. I'm not sure what they recommend for a man, but the best for me is about 1200 to 1500 calories a day. Add that to the walking and I always lose weight and end up feeling great! Good luck. By the way I've lost 50 over the past two years... looking to lose another 15. ;)
