I prefer David Gilmour, love his voice and the way he sings the pinkfloyd songs. But who do you prefer?

I wouldn't bat an eyelid if the world opened up and swallowed Roger Waters. He is a waste of space, over-egotistical, desiring to make albums more akin to 'The Final Cut' full of 3 minute, vocal based songs, than the 5-8 minute tracks with guitar solo, harmonised keyboards, and percussion not drums. Dave Gilmours influence, guitarmanship and voice far exceed Rogers limitted ablities. In my mind, there is no choice, Dave Gilmour every day.

I agree that David Gilmour's voice is better, in general, and his guitar skills are apparent, but Roger Waters WROTE most of their stuff. Without him, Pink Floyd wouldn't be anything. I saw Roger Waters and Nick Mason in concert this past summer and they sounded amazing. I thought I would miss David, but honestly, you couldn't even tell he wasn't there.

Roger collaborated on most of the Floyds works, and I was unfortunate enough to see his Wall concert in Berlin, with Cyndi Lauper and Bryan Adams, and, hell, I did miss Dave (and Nick & Richard)! It was awful.

I think that Waters sung better but Gilmour was a better writer. Kinda like a Lennon/Macarthey kinda thing where they fed off each other until Waters let it all go to his head and thought he was the band and not a member of the band (See Final Cut) they were kind of a symbonic relationship until the end. Not a Waters fan but was sorry to see him go.

I agree wholeheartedly with your comments, especially about that travesty of an album 'The Final Cut', which I suggest was the final straw for the other band members.

I much prefer Roger Waters to Dave Gilmour. Gilmour may have the more pleasant voice, but it doesn't fit the tone of Waters' lyrics. I don't much care for any of the post-Waters Pink Floyd albums. I don't think Gilmour is as good a songwriter as Waters.

I like Roger Waters lyrics better than Dave Gilmour's, but Dave Gilmour does have a better Voice. It was good to see them back on stage together for Live 8, I hope they do another album together as it's not Pink Floyd without Roger.

Aw, do I have to pick, well Gilmour is so ethereal and you really go into the song like "Waterfall"; but then when Waters belts out his political and power prowess songs like Bring the Boys Back Home, I say he is good too. They both delievered exceptional talent that it really is difficult to choose so based on songs I find myself listening to more often, I say Gilmour !

I think this depends on your attitude towards music and art in general. Gilmour is definitely a more "standard" performer and has probably a better style in a "normal", ordinary sense. Waters may sound disturbing, and sometimes he really is, but is certanly more original, "personal", and in the end a more accomplished artist.
