Hey guys i'm from Jamaica. I know u may have heard lots of bad things about us but I can tell u one thing... we have some of the warmest ppl that ever lived. We care for each other. Neighbours look aout for one another and we have a great weather and lots of beautiful scenes. The good far outweighs the bad. Unfortunately the latter is over publicized. Come to Ja fiyuh nex vacation!

My mother and father were born in Jamaica. I was born in England and grew up in the U.S. I've been there a few times. It's a lovely place. I still have a lot of family there. Nice to meet you here at MyLot. Lloyd

Ocho Rios is beautiful. There are many beautiful beaches and resorts there. Kingston is fine, but no beaches in this area. Portland is also a great place to visit. You may find some great info on Jamaica.com. Feel free to contact me if you have other questions.

I got married in Monego Bay, and I would love to go back again. Not only was it beautiful, but the people we met were great! We were lucky and became friends with a local, who showed us many things a lot of tourists don't normally see. He even took us around one day to all the tourist spots all the way to Ocho Rios. The drive along the coast was awesome. (I did learn that when a horn beeps...MOVE!!lol) Going through Trelawny at those speeds...I can still see the bag one guy was carrying seinging back and forth as we passed.... And I don't know that I could ever get used to driving on the other side of the road! It just seemed wierd seeing the steering wheel on the right side of the car! I only heard one negative comment, and that came after my husband hit on a slot machine in Montego Bay. Apparently, a local had it pegged as her own machine. (She wasn't in the building when we sat down). But, "dirty americano won on my machine". OK, we're done, you can have it back. But, the people who greeted us with open arms were far more than the one who didn't! I would go back in a heartbeat. We were in the Dominican Republic the next year. It was pretty, and nice people, and I got to use my Spanish, but it just wasn't Jamaica. The beaches alone win that for Jamaica! ANd the snorkeling!

I totally agree. The people are some of the most kind, caring and loving. The island is extremely beautiful and there is a rythym to life there. Not to mention the food.... oh dear. It so sweet. Anyone who hasn't visited is missing one of the most wonderful experiences ever. It is fabulous.
