Did your cat(s) act different when you were pregnant/sick?

I have a 5 year old cat who, all his life, has slept draped over my legs at night. While I was pregnant with my son, he slept right close to my belly. Once he was born, my cat went back to sleeping on my legs, *unless* my son was in bed with me, then my cat would sleep near his feet! It was as if my cat was trying to protect my son.

Oh thats so sweet. My cat is also 5 years old and when ever I fall sick he sleeps right next to me the whole day. At night he is almost always out. But if I am not well he just would not go anywere. Seems as though he understands that I am not well and so keeps an eye on me. We can expect that from a dog but never thought that a cat would do something like that.

It's funny how people always say they expect it from dogs but not cats, but throughout my life there has always been at least 1 cat around, and they always knew when someone was hurting or sick or just plain didn't want to be alone. When I have the chills, my cat forms a "U" around my head to help warm me up. :) He's so thoughtful.

That's wonderful that your cat is so protective. I can't say how my cats would act when I was pregnant as I've never been with them around. When I'm not well though they rally around like they know I don't feel well and don't want me to be alone. I have 3 cats who all have very different personalities but they all come together when someone is sick.

My cat doesn't sleep in the bed with us, she sleeps at the end of it on any covers that have fallen off the bed. Unless I am sick then she sleeps right next to me all night. She definitely guards me when I am sick. She is such a sweet kitty
