Is one's life really pre-destined?

Most elderly people believed that all our lives were pre-destined even before we were born.Many think that everything we do and everything that happens to us were all fated.Does anyone have a strong opinion to this belief?Or does anyone strongly disagree?

My decisions influence my life, but the path may be known beforehand. Fate may know me better than I know myself.
