Is Education the answer to everything?

In this world we have many problems ranging from religious wars, obesity and bad behaviour in children to famine and environmental destruction. A lot of people think that education would be the way to solve all these problems, what do you think?

education can only teach you so much, but it's still up to you what to do with your life. Maybe you can learn good manners and different languages, but for what? You'll likely forget them anyway. Experience is the most effective teacher. You don't just learn, you also have to do it.

Education teaches a lot of thing to human beings but there r many educated people who show more sillyness than educated people e.g. bush the hell attacked on Iraq without any reason. Everyone was in against of his this decision but he did n't take care of anyone. The real thing is that how much a person is wise and 2ndly, does he/she has the ability to take step wisely according to the given situation.

I would like to add that knowledge and education should not be confused. Education is, of course, about gaining knowledge, but PROPER education is an opening of the mind. It is about learning to think for oneself and keep an open and critical view of various things.

i don't think that education is the answer per se. it's more of what a person makes of his/her education that matters. it wouldn't matter if someone got his degree from harvard or some small community college in a quiet town. what matters is how that person decides to use that education to actually be able to contribute something fruitful to society.

Education empowers us to know and grow. It's our wisdom that should guide us towards the right course because education and knowledge could also be misused.Even if education be considered a panacea,it definitely plays a huge role in helping us realise our potentials and to give shape to our dreams. An educated mind fits in everywhere irrespective of his or her religion, culture, gender or even past.If I was to choose one from education and wisdom,I would have a very hard time making my choice.

Education and proper knowledge are indeed essential if we want to make this world a better place. The poorest countries are ruled by a rich minority who doesn't care about teaching their people the most basic things, like reading and writing. When you look at the level of education of economically successful (in a relative sense) countries, you realise that something could be done in the so-called 'developing' countries. In other places, like the USA, the reversal of education causes more poverty and heightened crime rate. So I would say that educating people properly is primordial in a successful society.

No I think education means nothing without compassion. If you know everything but have no wisdom it's all a bunch of facts.

Education would surely help but then again it really depends with what kind of education. We have plenty problems with delinquency even in our more affluent nations where a lot of the youth have become slovenly and uncouth in their behaviour. Learning to work with their naturl environment and practical skills along with an academic education would be in their interests. I think this is the problem in our societies too.Not enough practical living skills are tought to our kids nowadays.

education and common sense. with a good combination of these things and with the guidance of the One Up Above, i believe everything will be answered.

it depends really if people want to learn, you can take a horse to water but you can't make him drink as it were. You can offer someone education but whether they accept it or really learn from it is down to them. It would definitely help if people were more aware so it can never be a bad thing, it just might not change everyones attitude that's down to the person themselves.

Education is only the platform to spring from. Experience completes the whole picture. One without the other is like having only one arm instead of two.
