i saw this on the new, this lady may have her child taken away because he is like 3 times the weight he should be.......saying that this is some form of child abuse, that all she does is feed him junk food! now i must say my son gets his fair share of star burst and skittles, and jelly toast but when is it time for social service to step in,i don't think he shuld be taken away but maybe put on a corrective diet and counseling on good eating habits, both mom and son.....what do you think, should be taken away or educated?

I heard this too, but I was just waking up, and I did not hear what the age of the child was.

I also saw this in CNN. It's not child abuse but it's the other way around. It's children abusing their parents to getting what they want. Gosh, I'm more than 6 feet tall and that kid is just 8 years old and he outweighs me in double digits. It's sad to see a child physically wasted. I wonder how high his blood pressure is or how high his bad cholesterol is. Normally bad cholesterol can be detected on mid teens as their earliest stage but in the child's case I think it doesn't need testing. Majority of the kids today are getting overweight. That's why when my nephews and nieces come to my place we would have lots of physical games and have a controlled meal. Adults know what is good and bad for the body of a child, I guess what they lack is the vigilance to enforce what's right.

I agree that she is responsible for both endangering the child's life and probably creating severe psychological harm to the child by making food the center of his universe. The child should be removed from her environment and she should be made to take parenting classes and agree to enforcce a healthy diet and exercise program before he is returned to her. If she in anyway profits financially from the misery she has caused him through books or television appearances, that money should be put in trust for him and she should never see one red cent from it.
