I am relatively new to the world of cars and I have found myself highly interested in drifting. I unfortunately have a front wheel drive automatic. Anybody know any good drifting techniques i could pull?

You'll never drift properly in a fwd car, especially not an automatic. The one way you can drift in a Fwd car is lift-off oversteer. It's difficult to do, but very satisfying when you manage it. You may have aven more problems as I don't imagine you get much rain in Texas? - it's easier when the roads are slippery. Anyway, drive around a corner or tight bend very quickly - to the point where your car begins to understeer. Lift off the gas sharply and the rear should slide out. You then turn to opposite lock and floor it again to get wheelspin. Just a note, if you try this do it on an empty road or parking lot for gods sake, throwing a car around like this is very un-predictable, much moreso than drifting a Rwd car. I've only once managed to pull of a full powerslide like this, but it was the most satisfying moment of my driving life!

Main thing you gotta remember in drifting is to use the E-Brake, get the car to about 50-60 MPH and pull the E-Brake and turn to either side, the quickly turn the other way, I will suggest to use a fast/light car for this, also never use a pick up truck or an SUV to do drifting, because the only drifting you be getting will be the roof on the ground sliding.

You can do an oversteer which is like a drift, get the car to 40mph then e-brake and countersteer the shift in momentum will induce a slide. go to mondernracer . com for fwd techniques

when i was new to cars i didnt know ne thing about cars but now i know alot of things about cars and drifting..the position in your in kinda sucks cause frontwheel is not good for drifting..the front wheel cars is good for race track for time attacks..the front wheel cars is hard to loose traction in the rear so its really good for time attacks..but if u really want to drift you should get a rear wheel drive perferbly a turbo car..if u want to drift in your front wheel car the only way i noe to drift in that car is pull the emergency brake and push gas youll start sliding side ways..well hopefull this asnwer you discussion about your car and intrest..
