What is your favorite object on a painting?

I would like to know how people choose the art the put on the walls. I like bright abstract paintings. My husband likes landscapes. I am artist myself and I like to paint things from nature (like trees and rocks). Thanks.

I have no real pattern and like all types of images. I have some fantasy art by Michael Whelan, some gothic stuff by Yoshitaka Amano, a few pictures of video game characters, and a nice print with the moon and two grey wolves.
