The Gateway Drug

Ok, one of the most common arguments against marijuana legalization is the theory that marijuana users move on to harder drugs, that marijuana is a gateway to harder drugs. THe fatal flaw in this is the very fact that marijuana is illegal is why it IS a gateway drug. The gateway is not the drug itself but rather the people you end up in contact with are the gateway, the drug dealers. Marijuana dealers rarely stick to just marijuana, many deal in other drugs as well, and there is more money to be had in the harder drugs. If marijuana was legal you could buy it in stores or hash bars thus not dealing with the dealers, so if you want to eliminate the gateway eliminate the laws that prohibit marijuana use.

Standing ovation!! You hit the nail right on the head. We have discussed this in my house and we came to the same conclusion. Thank you for the post!

I didn't say this was a fact. I said we have discussed this and have come to the same conclusion. In my mind his post was a rational explanation that I happen to agree with. I don't appreciate you calling me a moron and have reported you.
