I have donated blood two times already, the last was in July 2006 when I was undergoing the training for security guards. The first time was when I went to the Kidney Center to visit a relative who then needed some blood. I was then afraid but it was not that so scaring anyway. Pls share to us your experiences.

It's not like you think bezzamae, the fact is it just like an ant bite us, not hurt for me. You don't have to be afraid at all and it's cool ya know ;-)

Yes! I have donated blood a few times, when I was in colege. I used to be very generous in donating the blood and still I am so! For I believe it is one of the best form of serving the human kind! Since , now I am palced quite away from the Township where we don't have facilities to donate blood I rarely have any opportunity to donate blood. At this age of 48, I still feel that if time comes I can donate blood very confidently!I have donated blood to the persons whom I know and also to the persons whom I never seen before! I never felt any thing like fear or scaring while donating the blood. Since being a student of Life sciences my idea was very clear about the blood donation and I was never got carriued away by the myhs surrounding the blood donation that one gets weak after donating blood etc. I recall one incident when I donated blood to a patient and I have spent whole night with him as an attendant as he was in the state of Coma and next day I cycled to my college which was situated on a hill, almost covering 19 Kms to give my semister final examination, in which I passed out with colours! What I mean to say is by donating blood one really don't suffer any way, the people generally think like! I think the awareness of blood donation should be incorporated in the modern youth and they shpuld be encouraged to do so, for these type of gestures which include other charitable things, not only make them feel their responsibility to the society but this will also help them to mend them as a respectable and responsible citizen of the Nation!

I have never donated blood. I'm so afraid even if I do take care of my husband (now deceased) and my son who underwent kidney transplant. Besides, I may not be qualified to be a blood donor for I have some ailments.

I haven't tried donating blood but perhaps if it's extremely necessary I would also donate if still qualified to give as I'm quite old already.

I've given blood 26 times now and it gets easier each time - I used to get bruises on my arms but I don't anymore. Well done to those of you that have given blood! (You've probably helped save a few lives!)

I have donated blood thrice already. It started back when I was a sophomore in college. It was held in the school clinic and a NSTP (National Service Training Program) class helped in organizing it. my friend was in that class and she encouraged me and my best friend to donate blood. My dad encouraged me as well. On the day that I was going to donate blood I didn't feel much nervous because I knew that I can back out anytime I want. When I was about to be tested for my blood type, hemoglobin level, etc. that was the time I finally felt scared. But the pain was quick to subside. And the bleeding wasn't really that painful. I don't think there are a lot of nerves in the site commonly used for blood letting. After that I felt dizzy and I never again found interest in donating blood (not because I was scared but I was just busy with other things). Time passed by and once again I found myself wanting to donate blood. And so I did. Last December 2006 I went to the Red cross here in Zamboanga City. The process was a bit different from the time I donated blood in school. A few days ago, I again donated blood. The pain was always there but it is always quick. Think of it this way: You experience pain for a brief few seconds and you get to save people's lives.

i had my last blood donation many years back when my own sister needed blood transfusion because of internal hemorrhage. that was in st. luke's hospital. i wasn't yet having problems in my blood pressure. but now, i am afraid i cannot donate blood anymore because of my high blood pressure. they won't allow you besides, you will fail also in their blood screening/test.
