Is there anything that you bought or were given to help you with your children that you discovered you rally didn't need? Why didn't you need it after all? I was given a bunch of baby bottles and a bottle drying rack, but my oldest rarely had a bottle and my baby now has never had one. I ended up giving them away to charity.

The stuff I still have after giving away quite a bit was baby powder. I never used any for my daughter. The weather here is humid so we sweat easily. Powder would just cake up in her nappy and cause a rash, yet I received bottles and bottles of it. So I gave it to my babysitter who babysat for 5 other kids. Guess that was a budget booster for their parents. Second baby is on the way now soooo... I wonder what people will be giving us this time!

I also got lots of baby powder, I thought people didn't use that because it can get in their lungs?

The most useless thing I bought was by far the crib and crib bedding. It was such a pretty nursery too, to never really be used except for diaper changes. ;) I never, never intended to be a co-sleeper until my daughter was actually born - and from her very first night on earth refused to sleep in that stupid plastic box or anywhere else except cuddled up next to someone. And now, I'm SO grateful for that. The pacifiers were pretty useless too (she never would use one), and the bottles were *mostly* useless - although I was glad we had bought a few "just in case" bottles when I had to have my gallbladder removed when she was only three weeks old. So we got about two and a half weeks' use out of those!

The baby swing hardly got any use. He hated that! Pacifiers...he never wanted any cos' he would rather suck his thumb. Baby carrier..you know, the kind where you can carry him in front of you or on your back. He hated that too. I used it once or twice. That's it.

The Diaper Genie, after a bit we switched to cloth diapers so I couldn't use it, I'm just laughing right now at the thought of his cloth being wrapped up like a sausage lol, okay I need some more sleep. Also most of his clothes I didn't need, I got mostly 0-3 month stuff and he only wore that for a month, he was in preemie stuff for a week (which of course no one bought because they thought he would be a 10 pounder) then he had a huge growth spurt after a bit and went into 3-6 month clothing. The thing I think I hate most from his baby shower is a Winnie the Pooh bottle piggy bank, because I hate characters being on baby stuff and I really think a gigantic bottle looks ridiculous.

I forgot about the diaper genie- what an awful, bad for the enviroment product- all those bags-ugh!.But I actually found a way to use mine, I turned it upside down, opened the bottom & put *one* bag in & use it as a regular waste basket. When he was little it was nice to have a trash container that he couldn't easily get into.

Some blouses or shirts not my size...am really particular with sizes when it comes to my wardrobes..well, i guess most people are...and I just don't find it helpful when some of my aunts gave me blouses or shirts which don't fit me at all. I just put them in my dresser or gave them to some of my cousins or friends whom I think would best fit them.

Although neither of the two younger ones ever took a bottle, I did use them for as no-spill drink containers when we were going out for the day. Fill with juice or my soda and bring a cup to pour it into when we had lunch, that sort of thing. But even doing that, I had way more bottles than I would ever need. I never really used my boppy. Even though every other nursing mother swears by them, it just got in my way nursing. Maybe because Peanut was a summer baby & it was just too hot to have extra stuff on me when nursing. I still have it & this baby is due in October, maybe I'll like it more this time around.
