Learning from Pain

I read an article saying that pain could be our greatest teacher...
would somebody explain it to me?
for i have always thought that "experience is the greatest teacher".. how come somebody says it's pain?

Yes its true that the pain is the greatest teacher for me because its depend to a person, some people are having a mentall illness beacuse of what happen to them. but for me the pain that ive suffer before makes me stronger and ive learned a lot because of what happen to me before, I choose a right partner znd now im very happy with my own family.
