well, u must have seen the rating star on the side of ur name when u respond to other's discussions. right? that is decided by the quality responses u give to others. if anyone doesn't like the way u responded, they mark them negative, and the average rating of that person decreases. And not only that, the responses and discussions which he had given that attracted maximum criticism will be deleted and his points will decrease.

Hello hellhunter...... Never rating someone negatively is NOT following mylots policies. There are times when it should be given. .....when the a response is abusive or threatening. .....any time a one or two word answer is left. .....when a response is not on topic. .....when a response tries to direct you to another discussion that has nothing to do with the original topic. .....there are others but I can't remember them all right now. Mylot provides these rating and reporting options because they need and request our help removing the garbage that needs to be. Check the do's and don'ts list to see for yourself. Consider that there are about 75,000 members multiplied by 100's maybe 1000's of topics......that equals how many discussion a day......or weekly ????? They rely on our help. Tom

Hello advisior.... You're welcome. There are many people here that create many quality discussions. Removing most of the garbage will make the best ones a lot easier to find, and in the long term greatly improve mylot and time time we spend here. Tom

Thanks for your quality reply, Now on I'll use my power of marking '-' to the response which is not relevant not otherwise. I thought that i'll play politics with my enemy on mylot and degrade his responses. Thanks

It appears to influence others in responding to you. It is a measure of how well other feel your responses and discussions are. It does appear to influence how you are paid in earnings. That is if you respond with 3 or more lines and on topic with the thought out response. You just don't get anywhere with a single or word response. That could get you a minus. So I guess it helps you find how well you fit the vague mold that we work with. Good luck in earning your star!!

Rating others responses is a good idea for the fact that I think it lets Mylot know who is here playing by the rules. And who actually has earned their star rating. In your travels here as you post discussions you will get responses that don't apply at all to the subject you are talking about.Don't hesitate to give them a (-) on their reply, they are just here to spam the place. And I'm sure Mylot doesn't want those type of people here. (hope this helps a little) :)

I just want to add another point that rating, to quite a few people, is a driver of their motivation. The more we post, the more "tired" we become. If we feel that we are doing good, quality posts but are yet not appreciated - because we get a bad rating or our rating dropped, we are less likely to continue at myLot. When someone gets and maintain a good rating, he is quite likely to be positively encouraged. This motivates him to make more post, and even higher quality posts. So especially if someone takes the time and effort to reply to your discussions, I think it's always nice to "+" him (unless... ) even if he will not know it. Just my 2 cents, cheers! ;-)

You are right, for quality responses people must be rated '+'. This will boost their confidence and will try to post more discussions
